Invitation to public hearing on the Kwazulu-Natal Heritage Bill

Please be advised that the KwaZulu – Natal Legislature and the Premier’s and Royal House Portfolio Committee will conduct and hold Public Hearings on the KwaZulu-Natal Heritage Bill.

The Bill seeks to provide for the conservation, protection and administration of both the physical and the living or intangible heritage resource of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal; to establish a Statutory Council to administer heritage conservation in the province; to determine the objects, powers, duties and functions of the Council; to determine the manner in which the Council is to be managed, governed, staffed and financed ; to establish Provincial, Metro and District heritage Forums to assist the Council in facilitating and ensuring of heritage in the Province; and to provide for matters connected therewith

As per the South African Constitution section 118 and KwaZulu-Natal Legislature Rules, there is an obligation of public participation that should be met.
